Role Optimization | Leading Clinical Excellence | Enhancing Patient Experience and Outcomes

We invite all interested nurses (RPNs & RNs) and organizations to consider submitting an abstract for an oral presentation or poster presentation. This is a great opportunity to share ideas, insights and best practices with your colleagues across the province. This year’s theme, “Today’s RPN Redesign – Practice Meets Incredible,” will be the focus throughout the conference and is intended to inspire and share knowledge about the valuable contribution of today’s RPN.

Topics of Interest

1. Optimizing the RPN role

Showcasing the value that RPNs play within the care team, organization and healthcare system. Leading collaborative work environments and innovative strategies to support retention.

  • Staffing models: Exploring innovative staffing approaches that utilize the expertise and knowledge of RPNs in traditional and non-traditional roles, fostering leadership development and a positive work culture.
  • Using technology to create collaborative work environments: Examining how digital collaboration platforms and communication tools can foster teamwork, efficiencies and connectivity among healthcare professionals.
  • High-functioning nursing teams: Leading the development of cohesive and resilient nursing teams that perform to their best. Emphasize the importance of team-building strategies, effective communication practices, and conflict resolution to foster trust within a team.
  • Innovative retention strategies: Sharing creative approaches to reducing turnover and retaining with nursing, including mentorship programs, professional development programs, and staff well-being initiatives.

2. Leading Clinical Excellence

Demonstrating clinical excellence with a focus on innovation, disease management, and developing comprehensive care.

  • Innovative use of technology in clinical practice: Sharing how to incorporate technologies that transform clinical care delivery, such as telehealth, AI-driven pathways, and real-time patient monitoring to improve outcomes.
  •  Innovative approaches to care: Sharing evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes and quality of life in care settings. Focusing on personalized care approaches, interprofessional collaboration, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Clinical best practice: Sharing best practices and successful outcomes in the care of patients considering the complexities of multiple comorbidities using comprehensive disease management strategies, resulting in optimal patient health and recovery. (for example, diabetes, cardiac disease and wound management)

3. Enhancing Patients’ Experience and Outcomes

Showcasing strategies and innovative approaches that promote patient well-being and quality care delivery.

  • Tailoring care to meet patients’ needs: Emphasizing the importance of personalized care that considers patients’ preferences, cultural backgrounds, and individual health goals. Discussing innovative strategies for involving patients and families in care planning and decision-making.
  • Enriching the lives of patients: Highlighting holistic approaches that go beyond physical health, incorporating emotional, social, and psychological support to promote well-being. Discussing the importance of activities, therapies, and community engagement in enhancing a positive patient experience.
  • Quality care delivery: Strategies, initiatives, and projects that focus on quality care delivery. that results in positive patient outcomes and system improvements.
  • Enhancing patient experience with technology: Sharing how technology can improve communication, access to care, and overall patient satisfaction. Highlighting the importance of including the patient in program development.

Submission Guidelines

Please click the button below and complete the online submission form. You will need to provide a topic abstract (no more than 300 words) and a brief biography (50 words) and program description (50 words).

Tip: It can be helpful to prepare your abstract in a Word document to cut and paste into the appropriate sections of the form. All sections must be completed for submission.

Content

Your abstract should highlight the problem, issue or project with a brief description of the manner in which it was addressed. Describe the outcomes, conclusions or solutions to the problem or project. Provide the relevance to and implication for RPNs.

Key Dates

All submissions must be received by 11:59pm Monday, June 13, 2025.

Review Process

A selection committee will independently review all submissions. Notification of abstract results will be shared by June 30th, 2025. You must indicate your intent to present and include a headshot by July 11th, 2025.

Presentation Format

All presenters are responsible for all expenses incurred and must register for the conference. Concurrent sessions are 30 minutes in length, with a 5-minute question period. Posters presentation details will be provided upon acceptance.
